Drink a pot of coffee and save the day!

Human multitasking is the performance by an individual of appearing to handle more than one task at the same time. Some believe that multitasking can result in time wasted due to human contact switching and apparently causing more errors due to insufficient attention.

I am beginning to feel that my ability to multi- task may be the death of me!  Earlier this evening I caught myself doing the following tasks all at the same time.  Playing Angry Birds and Farmville at the same time, while cooking dinner and being responsible for two young children.  Now keep in mind I had complete control over the situation, dinner did not burn, the children did not escape, and yes I finally passed level 11-7.

My excuse is that Farmville and Angry Birds relaxes me and takes my mind of having to listen to the same episode of "Wonder Pets" for the 100th time.  And I believe my multi-tasking does save the day sometimes.  Without multi-tasking I would not be able to do a load of dishes, a load of laundry, dress 3 kids and get out the door by 7:15am.  All while drinking half of a pot of coffee!

But I highlighted one word in the definition of Multi Tasking above.  "Appearing"  I may be appearing to be handling more than one task at a time but maybe I would be a better cook if I stopped multi-tasking!  Hmmmm....that's thought provoking....maybe too thought provoking for me!  I think I'm off to watch a chick, turtle and guinea pig save the day!  Until next week my friends, think about the dangers of multi-tasking!

Singing.....Wonder Pets, wonder pets we're on our way, to drink a pot of coffee and save the day!

Not now honey, I'm harvesting

Well actually, I care!  If you know me you know I am addicted to farmville, and have been for a long time!  Sure I could be spending my spare time expanding my brain, building my problem solving capabilities, or maybe even finding the cure to cancer.  But no.  I am instead building a virtual farm and expanding my virtual greenhouse.   You may think it is a complete waste of time, but I believe Farmville teaches discipline, responsibility and expands my ability to plan ahead.  After all once you plant a crop it is your responsibility to plan ahead and harvest it before it withers!

Look at our cute avatars!  If you look closely you will see Sean's virtual puppy, his name is Terd!  Sean is even more addicted than I am.  I would say we compete, however he is soooooo much better than I am that I stopped competing about 15 levels ago!  How sweet is it that we bond while harvesting our trees and hunting for truffles.  Don't worry we do spend quality time together doing other things.  Every day we play at least a few hands of Zynga Poker, I'm pretty good at Texas Hold 'em, but I am a good wife and always let him win a few hands.  :)
Well just in case you were worried that Farmville rules my life, I will share another passion of mine....ANGRY BIRDS!  Yes there is something about slinging birds at pigs that is very therapeutic and relaxing.  I find it much more challenging than Farmville yet at the same time so simplistic.  Who needs therapy when you have angry birds!

Well I would love to keep sharing with you about the passions in my life, but my crops are about to wither!  Ok my next blog will be much deeper, inspirational and spiritual than this one, I promise! (ok maybe not the next one, but at least one blog this year will be deep and spiritual!)

Different tastes in life

One of the interesting parts of a family of 7 is food.  It is so tough to find food that everyone likes, or even half of the family likes.  Even when it's just Sean and I we STILL struggle....I use to stress out about it and try very hard to find meals to please everyone.  But then I realized we just all have strange tastes!  So for example lets start with me....  Here is my all time favorite food....

Yep, that's a donut with bacon on it!  Yummy, yummy in my tummy!  Well I think everything tastes better with bacon.  Well Sean disagrees.  He thinks everything tastes better with eggs on it...Here is his favorite hamburger...

The Red Robin Royal.....Yes that hamburger has a fried egg on it....Yuck!

Here is one more example of our differences.  He loves his food hot and spicy, I like mine boring and mild.  Here is a picture of a lunch he made for himself one day...Notice all the jalapenos...yep not for me!

At least we agree on one food....SUSHI!  Yummmm...Here is my favorite sushi in the whole world!
I love how we are all so different, have different likes, dislikes, tastes and passions.  Yet we have so much in common and have such a wonderful time as a family.  Just stay out of my way in the kitchen and don't complain if you don't like what's cookin, and we will all be good!

Let's Get This Party Started....

Ok well I am about a month and a half behind schedule, but I guess better late than never!  Here's my new years resolution...one blog a week for a year.  I think it will be a great way to look back on the year and remember how sleep deprived and delusional I really was!

So we ended 2010 with an exciting event....our wedding!  We had a wonderful day and we got some amazing pictures of our kiddos and loved ones.  Planning a wedding so close to Christmas was very challenging but some how, some way we got the details all put together.  One of my favorite details of the day was the cake topper.  I was very stressed out because I thought the cake toppers were all ugly. Well Sean took an ugly cake topper and made it beautiful, by adding his special touches to it!
We ended the night with our friends and family eating and relaxing at our house.  We toasted to the new year and our new marriage with our awesome Tervis Tumblers, then we partied the night away.

I love this last picture because I view it as us walking into our new life, new year, new family and new adventure.  Stay tuned for more blogs about our adventures as a new family!
